Why Your Business Isn't Showing on Google Maps

“We're not on Google Maps” can mean two different problems. Work out which one you have first.

Step 1: Search your exact name

Open Google Maps and search your business name exactly as it appears on your profile. If you appear, your listing exists and the issue is that you don't show for general searches (see ranking below). If you don't appear even by name, check the causes below.

If you don't appear even by name

• The profile isn't verified yet, or verification is pending.
• The profile has been suspended — check your Business Profile for a notice.
• It's very new, or has recently had major edits under review.
• There are duplicate listings, and the one you manage isn't the one showing.
• The address or pin location is wrong.

If you appear by name but not for your services

• Your primary category may not match what people search for.
• Competitors closer to the searcher may be shown first — distance matters.
• Your profile may be less complete, or have fewer reviews, than nearby businesses.

Service-area businesses

If you hid your address and set a service area, you won't appear as a pin at a street address, but you can still show for searches in your service area.
