To collect Google reviews the easy way, you need one thing: a direct link that opens the 'write a review' box for your business. Behind that link is your Google Place ID — a unique code Google gives every business and place on the map. This guide shows three reliable ways to get both, without touching any code.
What is a Google Place ID?
A Place ID is a permanent identifier for a specific place on Google — your shop, cafe, clinic or office. It never changes, even if you rename the business or move the pin slightly. Once you have it, you can build a link that sends anyone straight to the review screen for that exact place, so customers don't have to search for you first.
Method 1: find your Place ID and build the link
This is the most reliable way and it works for any business — even if you haven't claimed or don't manage the listing on Google. Use Google's own Place ID Finder to look up the ID:
Open Google's Place ID Finder- 1On the Place ID Finder, type your business name into the search box on the map.
- 2Select your business — a small card shows your Place ID (a string that usually starts with 'ChI').
- 3Copy that Place ID.
Turn a Place ID into a review link
Add your Place ID to the end of this address: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID. Opening it drops the customer straight onto your Google review box.
Don't want to build the link by hand? Paste your Place ID into our free tool and it makes the review link for you, ready to copy.
Use the free review-link toolMethod 2: your Google review link (if you manage the business)
If you already manage the business on Google, there's an even quicker shortcut — Google hands you a ready-made short review link, no Place ID needed.
- 1Sign in to the Google account that manages your business.
- 2On Google Search, type your business name, or open your Business Profile.
- 3Find the 'Ask for reviews' or 'Get more reviews' option.
- 4Copy the link Google shows (it looks like https://g.page/r/…/review).
Good to know
That g.page link already opens the review box directly. If you only want to start collecting reviews, you can stop here.
Method 3: from Google Maps
Handy for double-checking you're looking at the right listing before you copy anything.
- 1Open Google Maps and search for your business.
- 2Select your business so its panel opens on the left.
- 3Scroll to 'Reviews' and choose 'Write a review', or use 'Share' to copy a link to the place.
Turn your link into a tap-or-scan review product
A link on its own still asks the customer to type or click. uTapiT puts your review link on a QR card, table stand or NFC plate, so a customer taps or scans once and lands on the review box — with honest, ready-to-edit wording suggestions to help them actually write it.
